Question
Three masses of 1 kg , 6 kg and 3 kg are connected to each other with threads and are placed on table as shown in figure. What is the acceleration with which the system is moving ? Take g = 10m s-2 .

Options
A.Zero
B.1 ms-2
C.2 ms-2
D.3 ms-2
Solution

30 − T2 = 3 a [Newton′s II law for 3 kg block]
T2 − T1 = 6 a [Newton′s II law for 6 kg block]
T1 − 10 = 1 a [Newton′s II law for 1 kg block]
By adding three equations
30 − 10 = 10 a ⇒ a = 2 m/s2.
