Question

The equation of motion of a particle is given by $x = asin(50t + \pi/3)cm$. The particle will come to rest at time $t_{1}$ and it will have zero acceleration at time $t_{2}$. The $t_{1}$ and $t_{2}$ respectively are $\_\_\_\_$ .

Options

A.$\frac{\pi}{300}\text{ }s,\frac{\pi}{75}\text{ }s$
B.$\frac{\pi}{75}\text{ }s,\frac{\pi}{300}\text{ }s$
C.$\frac{\pi}{300}\text{ }s,\frac{\pi}{25}\text{ }s$
D.$\frac{\pi}{50}\text{ }s,\frac{\pi}{100}\text{ }s$

Solution

Sol. [Key Concept: Rest at the extreme position and zero acceleration at the mean; solve for the two times.]

Phase of the motion of particle is as follows :

$V = 0$, when particle cross A .

$$\therefore t_{1} = \frac{\pi}{6\omega} = \frac{\pi}{300} $$$a = 0$, when particle cross B .

$$\therefore t_{2} = \frac{2\pi}{3\omega} = \frac{\pi}{75}$$
