Question
If for the equilibria NH2COONH4(s) $\rightleftharpoons$N2 + H2 + CO + O2, the value of KP at 800 K is 27 × 2λ/2 and the equilibrium pressure is 22 atm. The value of λ is
Options
A.21
B.22
C.11
D.12
Solution
NH2COONH4(s) $\rightleftharpoons$ N2 + 3H2 + CO + ½ O2
Equilibrium partial pressure $\frac{22}{5.5} = 4$ $\frac{3 \times 22}{5.5} = 12$ $\frac{22}{5.5} = 4$ $\frac{22}{2 \times 5.5} = 2$
Now, $K_{p} = 4 \times (12)^{3} \times 4 \times (2)^{1/2} = 27 \times (2)^{10.5}$
