Question
For the reaction, 2NOBr(g) $\rightleftharpoons$2NO(g) + Br2(g), the ratio $\frac{K_{p}}{P}$, where P is the total pressure of gases at equilibrium and $P_{Br_{2}} = \frac{P}{9}$at a certain temperature is
Options
A.1/9
B.1/81
C.1/27
D.1/3
Solution
2NOBr $\rightleftharpoons$ 2NO + Br2
P0 0 0
Equilibrium P0 – 2x 2x x = P/9
Ptotal = (P0 – 2x) + 2x + x = P0 + x
$= P \Rightarrow P_{0} = \frac{8P}{9}$
$\therefore K_{p} = \frac{(2x)^{2} \times x}{\left( P_{0} - 2x \right)^{2}} = \frac{\left( \frac{2P}{9} \right)^{2} \times \frac{P}{9}}{\left( \frac{8P}{9} - \frac{2P}{9} \right)} = \frac{P}{81}$
