Question

Rain is falling vertically downwards with a vecolty of 3km/hr.A man walks in the rain with a velocity of 4km/hr. The rain drop will fall on a velocity of

Options

A.5 km/hr
B.4 km/hr
C.1 km/hr
D.1 km/hr

Solution

In the figur, CB represnts velocity ofrain, CA represents velocity of the man. to find relative velocity of the rain with resect to man we add a velocity qquel to that of man in opposite direction to the velocity of rain it has been depicted by line CD. Now rain has twoveloity simulitaneously. Their resulatent,
      R2 = 42 + 32 ⇒ R = 5
which give us the value of reletive velocity of rain.
