Question

A bag contains 4 red and 6 black balls. A ball is drawn at random from the bag, its colour is observed and this ball along with two additional balls of the same colour are returned to the bag. If now a ball is drawn at random from the bag, then the probability that this drawn ball is red,
is:

Options

A.

2/5

B.

1/5

C.

3/4

D.

3/10

Solution

Let Ri be the event of drawing read ball in ith draw and Bi be the event of drawing black ball
in ith draw.
Now, In bag there are 4R and 6B balls
 P(R1) = 410 and P(B1) = 610
Now according to given information
PR2R1=612and PB2B1=412
Required probabiflity
= P(R1PR2R1 + P(B1PR1B1
=410×612×610×412
=25
