Sound WavesHard
Question
Standing waves are produced in 10 m long streched string If the string vibrates in 5 segments and wave velocity is 20m/s, then its frequency will be:
Options
A.5 Hz
B.2 Hz
C.10 Hz
D.2 Hz
Solution

There are 5loops in 10 metre.
Length of one loop = 2m
Length of two loops = 2 × 2 = 4m
Now, λ = 4m; v = 20 m/sec
from formula
v = vλ ⇒ 20 = v × 4 ⇒ v = 5Hz
