Question
The second maturation division of the mammalianovum occurs
Options
A.shortly after ovulation before the ovum makes entry into the Fallopian tube
B.until after ovum hasbeen penetrated by a sperm
C.untill the nucleus of the sperms has fused with that of the ovum
D.in the Graafian follicle following the first maturation division
Solution
In mammalian ovum during maturation phase, meiosis occurs, nucleus shifts towords animal pole and undergoes meiosis-I. After fertilization (pentration of sperm), the second meiotic division is compeleted with unequal cytoplasmic cleavage.
