Question
Circle(s) touching x-axis at a distance 3 from the origin and having an intercept of length
or y-axis is (are)
or y-axis is (are)Options
A.x2 + y2 - 6x + 8y + 9 = 0
B.x2 + y2 - 6x + 7y + 9 = 0
C.x2 + y2 - 6x - 8y + 9 = 0
D.x2 + y2 - 6x - 7y + 9 = 0
Solution

As per figure,
R2 = 32 +

∴ centre ≡ (3,4) radius 4
∴equation x2 + y2 - 6x - 8y + 9 = 0 such a circle can lie in all 4 quadrants as shown in figure.
∴ equation can be x2 + y2
6x
8y + 9 = 0Create a free account to view solution
