Alternating CurrentHard
Question
In an AC circuit an alternating voltage e = 200√2 sin 100 t volts is connected to a capacitorof capicity 1μ F . The r.m.s value of the current in the circuit is
Options
A.10 mA
B.100 mA
C.200 mA
D.20 mA
Solution
The given equation of alternating voltage is e = 200 √2 sin100t .......(i)
The standard equation of alternating voltage is e = e0 sinωt .......(ii)
Comparing (i) and (ii), we get
e0 = 200√2 V, ω = 100 rad s-1
The capactive reactance is

The r.m.s value of the current in the circuit is

= 200 × 100 × 10-6 A = 2 × 10-2 A = 20 mA
The standard equation of alternating voltage is e = e0 sinωt .......(ii)
Comparing (i) and (ii), we get
e0 = 200√2 V, ω = 100 rad s-1
The capactive reactance is

The r.m.s value of the current in the circuit is

= 200 × 100 × 10-6 A = 2 × 10-2 A = 20 mA
