Question
A full wave rectifier circuit with diodes $\left( D_{1} \right)$ and $\left( D_{2} \right)$ is shown in the figure. If input supply voltage $V_{\text{in}\text{~}} = 220sin(100\pi t)$ volt, then at $t = 15msec$
Options
A.$\ D_{1}$ is forward biased, $D_{2}$ is reverse biased
B.$D_{1}$ is reverse biased, $D_{2}$ is forward biased.
C.$D_{1}$ and $D_{2}$ both are forward biased
D.$\ D_{1}$ and $D_{2}$ both are reverse biased
Solution
$V_{\text{in}\text{~}} = 220sin(100\pi t)$ volt
$$\begin{matrix} & t = 15\text{ }ms \\ & t = 0.015\text{ }s \\ & \omega = 100\pi \\ & \frac{2\pi}{T} = 100\pi \\ & T = \frac{1}{50}\text{ }s \\ & T = 0.02\text{ }s \\ & \ \therefore t = \frac{3T}{4} \\ & \text{~}\text{i.e. negative half cycle.}\text{~} \end{matrix}$$
So now negative half cycle is fed to circuit making $D_{1}$ as reverse biased and $D_{2}$ as forward biased.
