Wave motionHardBloom L2
Question
Figure shows a snapshot graph and a history graph for a wave pulse on a stretched string. They describe the same wave from two perspectives.
Options
A.The wave is travelling in positive x-direction
B.The wave is travelling in negative x-direction
C.The speed of the wave is 2 m/s.
D.The peak is located at x = –6 cm at t = 0.
Solution
Sol.
Disturbance at x = –4 at t = 0.01sec and disturbance reaches x = 2 at t = 0.04 sec hence wave is travelling in positive x-direction.
$v_{w} = \left( \frac{6cm}{0.03\sec}() \right)$
= 200 cm/sec = 2m/sec
At t = 0 sec
