Question
In the circuit show below what will be the reading of the voltmeter and ammeter?
(Total impedance of circuit Z = 100 Ω)

(Total impedance of circuit Z = 100 Ω)

Options
A.200V, 1A
B.800V,2A
C.100V,2A
D.200V,2.2A
Solution
Total impedance of the circuit = 100Ω
Current =
= 2.2A
Potential drop over inductance and capacitance is 300 V. As they are in opposite phase they will sum up to zero. So whole of 220 volt (external) will come over the resistance.
(VL = VC)2 + VR2 = (200)2
As VL = VC so VR = 200 volt
