The source of somatostatin is same as that of insulin and glucagons. All these hormones are secreted from endocrine part (called Islets of Langerhans) of pancreas. These endocrine part contain different type of endorcrine cells which secretes different hormones (refer table).

Thyroxine and calcitonin are sereted by thyroid gland. Somatotropin and prolactin are secreted from anterior pituitary gland Vasopressin pituitary gland.
