Nephridia are invertabrate organs which fuction similary to kidneys. They remove metabolic wastes from an animal’s body. They are of two basic types, meta nephridia and protonephirdia. A metanephridia is a type of excretory gland or nephridium found in annelids, arthroopods and molluscs. A protonephridium is a network of dead-end tubules laking internal oppnings. The ends are called flam cells or solenocytes; they function in osmoregulation.
