Solution
Gene therapy is a new system of medicine. Excellent example of gene therapy is SCID. They have defective gene for the enzyme adenosine deaminase (ADA). They lack tlymphocytes which fail to combatthe infecting pathogen. Lymphocytes are extracted from the patients bone marrow and normal fuctioning copy of gene coding for ADA is introduced into these lymphocytes with the help of retrovirus . The cells so treated are reintroduced into patients bone marrow which reactivate patients immune system for life.
