Quadratic EquationHard
Question
If the roots of the quadratic equation x2 + px + q = 0 are tan30o and tan15o, respectively then the value of 2 + q - p is
Options
A.2
B.3
C.0
D.1
Solution
x2 + px + q = 0
tan 30o + tan 15o = - p
tan 30o . tan 15o = q
tan 45o =
⇒ - p = 1 - q
⇒ q - p = 1
∴ 2 + q - p = 3.
tan 30o + tan 15o = - p
tan 30o . tan 15o = q
tan 45o =
⇒ - p = 1 - q
⇒ q - p = 1
∴ 2 + q - p = 3.
