Photoelectric EffectHard
Question
In a photoelectric experiment, the frequency and intensity of a light source are both doubled. Then consider the following statements.
(i) The saturation photocurrent remains almost the same.
(ii) The maximum kinetic energy of the photoelectrons is doubled.
(i) The saturation photocurrent remains almost the same.
(ii) The maximum kinetic energy of the photoelectrons is doubled.
Options
A.Both (i) and (ii) are true
B.(i) is true but (ii) is false
C.(i) is false but (ii) is true
D.both (i) and (ii) are false
Solution
Since frequency of light solurce is double, the energy carried by each photon will be doubled.
Hence intensity will be doubled even if number of photons remains constant. Hence saturation current is constant. Since frequency is doubled, maximum KE increases but it is not doubled.
