Question
Removal of calcium from freshly collected blood would
Options
A.cause delayed clotting
B.prevent clotting
C.cause immediat clotting
D.prevent destruction of haemoglobin
Solution
Blood clotting starts when prothrombinase in presence of Ca12+ converts inactive prothrombin into theombin into thrombin which in turn converts dissolved fibrinogen protein into fine thread-like fibrin. The network of fibrin covers the wound in which blood corpuscles get endulge and form . If Ca12+ is removed, it will prevent clotting.
