Blood clotting starts when prothrombinase in presence of Ca12+ converts inactive prothrombin into theombin into thrombin which in turn converts dissolved fibrinogen protein into fine thread-like fibrin. The network of fibrin covers the wound in which blood corpuscles get endulge and form . If Ca12+ is removed, it will prevent clotting.
