Went (1928) reeported that auxin is transported basipetally. ie, it moves from apical to basal end. However, McCready and Jacobs (1963) working petiol segment of phaseolus vaulgaris observed acropetad movement of auxin but such type of movement occurs very little and directly dependent with the presence of oxygen. Thus, recent have indicated that the polar movement of auxin is an active transport.
