Dicker and Tio (1959) discovered photorespiration in tobacco plant. It is a light dependent process of oxygenation of Ribulosr Bisphosphate (RuBP). During this process CO2 is libareted and O2 is consumed C4-plants avoid photorespiration by following Hatch Slack pathway.
