Question

Lipida are insoluble in water bwcause lipida molecules are

Options

A.hydrophilic
B.hydrophobic
C.netural
D.Zwitter ions

Solution

Bloor (1943) first time used the term ′lipid′. These are the compound of C, H, O but the ratio of H and O is more than 2 : 1 that is the ratio of oxygen is lesser as compound to carbohydrates. Lipids are insoluble in water and soluble in non polar solvents such as benzene, chloroform etc. Commonest lipids occur in a cell is phospholipid. It contains a hydrophilic (polar) head and a hydrophilic (non-polar) tail.
