Mimicry occurs when a given species resembles anothre for its own benefit. It may help a predtor in capturimg food (offense) or it can help a prey in avoiding capture. The concept of mimiry was first observed by Henry Bates (1862 AD). So, The phenomenon of mimicry is also known as Batesian mimicry. The individual which shows mimicry is called mimic while the animate (living) or inanimate (non-living) object whth which a mimic resembles is called model.
