Question
Which one of the following condition humans is correctly matched with its chromosomal adnormallity/linkage?
Options
A.Klinefelter′s syndrome Y-linked
B.Colourlblindess - Y-linked
C.Erythroblastosis foetalis - Y-linked
D.Down syndrome - 44 autosomes + XO
Solution
Klinefelter′s syndromeis represented by 44 autosomes + XXY. When an adnormal egg with XX chromosome is fertilized by a sperm carrying Y chromosoma a zygote having XXY sex chromosomes is formed. The resulting young one is an abnormal steril sterile male.
The autosomes + XO condition is due to Turner′s syndrome. Such females are sterile and have short stature, webbed nec, broad shield-shaped chest etc.
Down′s syndrome is due to trisomy of 21st pair of chromosomes. It is characterized by moder ate stubby fingers, an enlarged liver and spleen. Colourlblindess is an X-linked disease. The person suffering from this disease can′t differentiate between red and green colours. Erythro blastosis foetalis is caused due to Rh factor in child of RH+ man and rh- woman
