Question
Which of the following pair has haploid structures ?
Options
A.Nucellus and antipodal cells
B.Antipodal cells and egg cell
C.Antipodal cells and megaspore mother cell
D.Nucellus and primary endosperm nucleus
Solution
In the ovule, the three chalazal ells, known as antipodal cells are haploid cells. The micropylar cells are collectively called egg apparatus, which constitute haploid egg cell or oosphere and two synergids. Nucellus, the parenchymatous tissue is diploid and the megaspore mother cell which differentiates from archesporial cell of hypodermal nucellar cell is also diploid cell. Pri mary endosperm cell is the only cell which is triploid (3n) and is formed after fertilization.
