Cell Cycle and Cell DivisionHard
Question
Mitochondrial cristae are sites of
Options
A.breakdown of macromolecules
B.breakdown of macromolecules
C.phosphorylation of flavoproteins
D.oxidation-reduction reactions
Solution
Mitochondiral cristae bear of functional unit, ie., oxysomes, Fernandes and Moran particles (F0 - F1 ) particles or electrons transport particles. Since, inner membrane is impermeable to ATP, thus ATP is sysnthesis on xysomes having ATPase in F1 (stalk) and proton channel on F0 (base). ATPase helps in oxidative phosphorylation, sysnthesize ATP through electron transport system by undergoing oxidation-reduction reactions.
