Question
Two rods of copper and brass having the same length and cross - section are joined end to end. The free end of the copper is at 0oC and of brass is at 80oC in steady state. If thermal conductivity of copper is 4 times of that of brass find the temp. at junction of two rods
Options
A.80oC
B.64oC
C.20oC
D.16oC
Solution
In steady state (dQ/dt)copper = (dQ/dt)brass
As length and are is same kc(T− 0) = kb(80 − T)
kc = 4 kb
5T = 80
T = 160
