Analytical ChemistryHard

Question

Consider the following statements,
S1 : sulphide does give yellow precipitate with Cd(NO3)2 in aqueous solution.
S2 : aqueous solution of hydrogen sulphide gives purple colouration with Na2[Fe(CN)5NO].
S3 : aluminium sulphide is hydrolysed by water forming Al(OH)3 precipitate and liberating H2S gas.
and arrange in the order of true / false.

Options

A.T F T
B.F F T
C. F T F
D.T T T

Solution

S1 : S2-(aq) + Cd2+(aq) →  CdS↓ (yellow)
S2 : Free H2S or its aqueous solution does not give purple colour with sodium nitroprusside. Purple colour develops when the solution of the reagent in made alkaline with NaOH or ammonia.
S3 : Al3+ + 3S2- + 6H2O →  Al(OH)3 ↓+ 3H2S ↑(hydrolysis)
