Question

Consider the following statements
S1 : Sea shells, dolomite, a marble statue and calcined gypsum, all contain CaCO3.
S2 : BeCl2 is not easily hydrolysed in water.
S3 : Sodium dichromate on heating with coke yields sodium carbonate and carbon monoxide.
S4 : Solutions of alkali metals in liquid ammonia yields hexaammoniates on heating.
and arrange in the order of true/false.

Options

A.T T T T
B.F F F F
C.F F T F
D.F T T F

Solution

S1 : Calcined gypsum is CaO. Sea shells, dolomite and a marble statue contain CaCO3.
S2 : Salt of weak base and strong acid, thus easily hydrolysed in water giving acidic solution.
S3 : Na2Cr2O7 + C Na2CO3 + Cr2O3 + CO.
S4 : Solution of alkali metals in liquid ammonia yields alkali metal. It is alkaline earth metals which give hexaammoniates which slowly decompose to give amides.
