Question
Consider the four following statements (1 - 4) regarding kidney transplants and select two correct ones out of these ?
(1) Even if a kidney transplant is a proper the recipient may need to take immuno- suppresants for a long time
(2) The cell-mediated immune response is responsible for the graft rejection
(3) The B-lymphocytes are responsible for rejection of the graft
(4) The acceptance of rejection of a kidney transplants depends on specific interferons The two correct statements are

Solution
To prevent graft (kidney transplant) rejection, the principle is to use chemical, which inhibit the netrie activity of immune system . When this occurs grft rejection is delayed It has been shown that immunosuppression may take the patients more preen to develope cancers. One way of overcoming the problems of radiation and immunosuppression is to suppress only the cell responsible for rejection, normally the killer T-cells. In this way, rest of the patirnts immune system would continue to function normally. The most promising approach is to treat the patient with monoclonal antibodies that recognize and destroy the killer T-cells. A monoclonal anibody has been developed, which is a very effective at preventing rejection of transplants of kidneys.
