Question
Some hyperthermophilic organisms that grow in highly acidic (pH2) habitats belogs to two groups called
Options
A.eubacteria and archaea
B.cyanobacteria and diatoms
C.protisis and mosses
D.liverworts and yeasts
Solution
Thermophiles live in very hot places, typically from 60o to 80o C. Many thermophiles are autotrophs and have metabolisims based on sulphur. Some thermophilic archaebacteria from the basis of food webs arround deep sea thermal vents, where they must withstand extreme temperature and pressure. Archaebacteria can grow in highly acidic (Ph = 0.7) and very basic (Ph = 11) environments.
