Respiration in PlantsHard
Question
The enegry -releasing matabolic process in which substance is oxidised withour an external electron acceptor is called
Options
A.glycosis
B.fermentation
C.aerobic respiration
D.photorepiration
Solution
n fermentation, the incomplete oxidation of glucose is achieved under anerobic conditions by set of reactions, where pyruvic acid is converted to CO2 and ethanol. The enzyme pyruvic acid, decarboxylase and alcohol dehydrogenase catalyse these reactions. In animal cell also, like muscles during exercise, where oxygen is inadequate foe celluar respiration, pyruvic acid is reduce to lactic acid by lactate dehydrogenase. The reducing agent is NADH + H+, which is reoxidised to NAD+, in bothe the processes.
