Ionic EquilibriumHard
Question
Which statement is/are correct:
Options
A.All Bronsted bases are also Lewis bases
B.All Bronsted acids are not Lewis acids
C.All cations are acids and anions are bases
D.All of these
Solution
Bronsted bases are proton acceptor and each Lewis base contain one or more electron pair and thus accept proton. On the other hand Bronsted acids are proton donor and may or may not be capable of accepting lone pair of electron, e.g., H2SO4 is Bronsted acid but not Lewis acid BF3 is Lewis acid but not Bronsted acid. Also each cation is acid an each anion is base.
