The line join centers of the coin and the striker just before the collision is parallel to x - axis. After collision the coin goes into the hole located at that origin. Masses of the striker and the coin are equal. Consider ing the collusion to be elastic, the initial and final speeds of the striker in m/s will be -

Momentum of the coin perpendicular to the common normal remains constant.

∴ vy = - 3 (constant)
vyt = - 6 ⇒ t = 2 sec & vxt = - 4
vx = -2m /s
Which is given by striker.S intial velocity of stricker = 2ms-1
Final velocity of the striker = 0.

∴ vy = - 3 (constant)
vyt = - 6 ⇒ t = 2 sec & vxt = - 4
vx = -2m /s
Which is given by striker.S intial velocity of stricker = 2ms-1
Final velocity of the striker = 0.
