Bhopal gas tragedy the world′s wrost industrial catastrophes. It occured on the night ofDecember 2/3, 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant inBhopal, Madhya Pradesh. A leak of methyle isocynate gas and other chemals from theplant resulted the exposure of hundred of thousand of people. The official immadiatedeath toll was 2259 and government of Madhya Pradesh has confirmed a total of 3787deaths related to the gas release. A government affidavit in 2006 state the leake caused5,58125 injuries.
