Heat and Thermal ExpansionHard
Question
Two long, thin solid cylinders are evidential in size, but they are of different substances with two different thermal continuities. The two cylinders are connected in series between a reservoir at temperature Thot ans a reservoir at temperature Tcold the temperature at the boundary between the two cylinders is Tb. One can conductivity.
Options
A.Tb is closer to Thot than it is to Tcold.
B.Tb is closer to Tcold than it is to Thot.
C.Tb closer to the temp. of the reservoir that is in constant with cylinder with the lower thermal conductivity
D.Tb closer to the temp. of the reservoir that is in constant with cylinder with the higher thermal conductivityTb closer to the temp. of the reservoir that is in constant with cylinder with the higher thermal conductivity
Solution
For some rate of heat transfer the body having higher conductivity have lower temperature difference. If cylinder with higher conductivity is connected with hot reservoir first then the function temperature Tb, will be closer to hot reservoir temperature.
